Is it me, or is Instagram blaming us?

To paraphrase their blog post:

"We introduced new, clearer terms that you didn't understand. You got confused. We need to explain advertising to you again. We're proud of you for being brave enough to speak up. By the way, why did you never read our privacy policy before?"

Such a poor choice of words in their statement. I'm speechless.
